National Geographic is the official journal of the National Geographic Society. It was first published in October of 1888 and is based out of Washington D.C.
There are 12 monthly issues of the National Geographic per year, plus additional map supplements and other educational tools. The Magazine is available in its traditional printed edition and through an interactive online edition. The magazine contains articles about geography, popular science, history, culture, current events, and photography.
During the WWII era in United States History, National Geographic contained their usual wealth of educational news. However, during this time they also contained many WWII style propaganda flyers, with the intended aim at gaining support for America through specific advertising.
Throughout this section of the Middle School Holocaust resource guide you will find a small collection of propaganda advertisements that were taken directly from National Geographic Magazine during the WWII era in United States history.
